Chocolate has nowadays become synonymous for pleasure. Many people enjoy chocolate occasionally because too much of it can cause obesity and bad teeth. But is the saying “A moment on your lips a lifetime on your hips” always true?  Does chocolate protect against diabetes, stroke and heart disease?

A 2014 study suggests that chocolate in small quantities can actually be beneficial to our health. Dark chocolate in particular has high levels of flavonoids. These powerful antioxidants help repair damaged cells. The blood samples of 500 individuals who ate 25 grams of dark chocolate every day show decreased insulin resistance and better liver enzyme levels.

The 500 participants who pleasured themselves to chocolate looked younger, more energetic and happier than the other 500 study subjects who did not eat chocolate, scientists say.
